Pretty things inspire me… I guess that’s the entire premise behind this blog really when I get down to the nuts and bolts of it all. I like to have them around me, in my living space, in my creative space, in my car, in my handbag, in my office… and… in my kitchen!

Call me easily amused… but isn’t baking just a little bit more fun with a kitschy apron? Breakfasts a tad more hilarious with little people for egg cups? Cleaning just a barrel of laughs with a ducky scrubbing brush? {okay, I might have taken things a bit far with that last comment…..}
The first item that caught my eye from the collection above was the charming brown owl teapot cosy by Mel Paton. Funnily enough, I’ve never owned a tea cosy and quite honestly, never really thought I would. It’s one of those items that always struck me as being a little bit nana-esque. Today however, I discovered not only the little brown owl, but a whole WORLD of arty tea cosies, so stylish in fact that they have their own book!

Loani Prior is the author of the hugely successful book Wild Tea Cosies, and is about to release a follow up edition featuring 20 even wilder knitted tea cosies. The book is due for release on 1 April 2010 and has forever changed my opinion of the humble tea cosy. The funky orange pom pom number on the right is so whimsical that I believe it would even make The Mad Hatter jealous! Love it!
