Heavenly Hair with Ellies Pretty Things

Ever since my own childhood and early teens, I’ve been a self-confessed accessory fiend. I recently installed a set of coat hooks on my bedroom wall just to hold all my necklaces and bracelets! As for hair accessories for the little ones… they reside in the ‘accessory treasure chest’… it’s perfectly pink. So for those of you who share my passion, this one’s for you!

Ellies Pretty Things - Handmade Hair Accessories

Late last month I had the pleasure of meeting Olga Rankin, Mum to little Ellie {who was born with a full mop of hair, cute as a button as you can see…} Olga creates her label Ellies Pretty Things at night time once Ellie enters the land of nod. She works with ribbons, felt, fabric beads and buttons, many of which come from her own stash which she has been collecting since her teens.

Ellies Pretty Things - Handmade Hair Accessories

Ellies Pretty Things is a handmade label with Olga making everything herself from the cutting and sealing, to the finishing and packing. She’s also lucky enough to have the help of her mini product testers, Claudia, Ellie and Victoria. If Claudia doesn’t tell her it’s pretty, she usually doesn’t make that style again. Ellies job is to make sure that if it is chewed it doesn’t fall apart, and Victoria just has to keep it in her hair!

Apart from the advantages of adding a fresh new look to an outfit, hair accessories are also a great way to indulge your shopping habit without breaking the bank. Ellies Pretty Things start at just $3.75, that’s cheaper than a latte.

  • Good luck to all of you and thanks for the lovely compliments regarding my shop and what I create!

  • Where to start??? $50 would go so far with these lovelies so I would have to include the pink flower facinator, brooch red rose, the tulip flower hair clips & the silk organza rossette…maybe that is over $50…just have to pay the extra, won’t I.

OMG I would spend way over the prize amt, lol. My little girl loves hari accessories much to my delight, unfortunately we are from the bottom of new zealand and dont have much of a range down here. When I got married I had to buy in from overseas just so she would have something unique for her hair on the day. But anyway favs of ours from the website are: silver headband with vintage bead applique, argyle clips, pink flower fascinator headband and pretty much all the bobby pins, lol. Yep it really is a hard decision, I love it all. Well done on such funky and cute designs, they are awesome 🙂

  • I would buy the peacock feather fascinator! It’s gorgeous! It’s so hard to choose just a few items honestly. I also really like the organza flowers in cappachino. The horse bobby pins are adorable and I’d get those and little white daisy hairclips for my neice. This is so hard! Gosh…Everything is so pretty! I think I’d choose the floral bow tie headband as well. I feel like I’m slighting your other items now. 😀

I’ve had the pleasure of buying a pink rose bobby pin and would absolutely love to spend $50 with Olga to purchase the silk organza rosette headband and many, many, many more bobby pins (especially the organza poppy!) I love her craftmanship and attention to detail! Blessings- Leigh
