Awesome TV Themes of the 80s

Today I thought I’d do something a little bit different, just for a giggle. As well as my fondness for indie design, I’m somewhat obsessed with pop-culture. I’ve been been known to spend hours over drinks with friends throwing around comments like “remember that 80s TV show with the Dad who builds a robot daughter?”…

Name that 80s TV theme

Today’s post is a celebration of 80s TV themes. The kind with heart-warming {aka cheesy} messages that inspire family sing-a-longs and stick in your head for days.  If you’re a child of 80s, this might bring back some fond memories. If you weren’t born until the 90s, you can have a good laugh at our lame TV heart-throbs!

Game time! Match up the photos with the theme song lyrics at the end of this post {sing them out loud!}. If you get stuck, you can click on the link next to the lyrics to listen to the theme and watch the show intro… FUN!

  • Matt Graham

Mash rocked my young world in the 80′s!

  • Jo Davies

There were so many I liked in the 80′s. Tour of duty was a favourite,Murder She Wrote Jessica always found the murdered within an hour. But the one i think i loved the best was Mr. Belvedere and how he did his thankless oh! hum! job

  • Johnny Depp used to make me want to go and break the law so he would come and arrest me!! LOVED 21 Jump St. Perfect blend of humour and stunts and action!

  • Scott and Charlene getting married, while Angry Anderson crooned Suddenly! I still love that song! But dont tell the kids I used to watch Neighbours..

  • Erica

Oh my god! Love 80s shows! I was a little addicted to The Wonder Years, Full house and Doogie Howser ……hmm so Doogie Howser was my favourite because I remember gazing dreamily at a poster of Neil Patrick Harris! How embarrasment! I know my husbands favourite show was The A-Team, he is still cut up to this day, that his mum threw out his old favourite T-shirt with Mr T on it!!….chains and everything apparently!

DEFINATELY “Charles in charge”, i really really (REALLY!) wanted him to be my babysitter. And ditto with the comment about scott and charlene’s wedding on neighbours, i might have taken a photo of the tv and put it in my photo album. hmmm.

I loved Punky Bruster – she was such a cool chick…I wanted to be JUST like her!

  • Di

I once had a Perfect Strangers viewing marathon. Must have watched about 15 episodes back to back, with spontaneous “dances of joy” in between. I thought Balki was the hottest man ever! Aah, the funky accent did it for me every time!

  • Carmel Corry

Growing up, I thought those TV families were the normal ones and it was mine that was weird. Now Im older and watch the shows back, I cant believe how naieve i was. As Mr. T would say..I was a FOOL!

  • Congratulations to Erica, winner of the Mr. T in your pocket! Hope you {and your A-Team Mad Hubby} love your prize!
