Mini Gourmets Kitchen Kapers + Giveaway

I recently had the pleasure of meeting WAHM mum of two, Natalie from Mini Gourmets. Natalie launched her online store late last year and it has since become a one-stop-shop for kids who love to cook. Never one to shy away from an explosion of flour, sugar and sprinkles, today I’ve asked Natalie to share one of her favourite recipes for kids + a few of the cool products in her store.

Mini gourmet kids cooking utensils

Natalie started Mini Gourmets for two main reasons, firstly to share her love of cooking with the world and secondly to spend more time with her kids. A story that I’m sure a lot of you can relate to. Prior to Mini Gourmets, Natalie worked as a Science Teacher with a double degree in Biology and Environmental Science.

I don’t know about you, but it warms my heart to see someone taking the plunge and following a dream. I bet that Natalie could come up with some fantastic kitchen science experiments…

Natalie from Mini Gourmets; in her own words…. “My business is run between kindy drop offs, swimming lessons, music lessons, while children (and sometimes husbands) sleep, cooking meals and washing clothes! I’m often doing paperwork while the kids are having showers and baths. Friends ask me how I do it all (2 kids, hubbie, keep house sorta clean, food on the table…) and the key is organisation and a super supportive husband.”

Cheese Biscuits Recipe

Whip up a batch of cheese biscuits! Here’s how… Sift dry ingredients into a medium bowl and rub in butter (or just throw it all in the mixer). Stir in cheeses and enough water to make a soft dough. Knead on a lightly floured board until smooth (or just mix in the mixer until its smooth). Shape into a sausage shape around 38cm long, wrap in foil and place in the fridge for 1 hour.

Cut the roll into 5mm thick slices and place 3cm apart on greased oven trays. Bake in moderate oven for about 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on trays… enjoy! This recipe makes about 70. Unused portions can be frozen for next time.

I would love to have the Luxury Starter Kit in blue. I have never spend much time in the kitchen, but now that my twins are getting older I am trying to cook them healthy meals. I want them to get excited about cooking as well!

  • Phillip Cunningham

I would have kid sized wooden spoons and rollers and cooking implements as they’re too small to handle the adult sized ones.

  • my daughter and I love making homemade popsicles especially in this heat we have been having in the Northeast. I think the rocket ice pop maker would be very cool, since she usually buys the red white and blue bomb pops from the ice cream truck we can save money and make our own!

  • Oh so much to choose from!! I adore the Me2Me2 vintage girls apron & very appropriate for my messy little cook!! Have added page to my favourites!! xx

  • Alison

I can’t wait for my daughter to be old enough to have fun in the kitchen and the Comfort Grip Cookie Cutters will be perfect for her little hands to use

  • I just love it all but think the cookie and cupcake decorating set is just the best idea, would make less mess! Awesome idea.

  • I’d start with the animal cookie cutters.
Animals and eating are two loves of my 17month old daughter. If we made biscuits with these cutters she wouldn’t know what to do first, make the appropriate animal sound, or shove the biscuit in her mouth. I can imagine her trying to do both!!!
