Meet Miss Tikiboo

There’s something particularly nostalgic and heartwarming about the idea of a mum sitting at a sewing machine making a special dress for her daughter. If you’re like me, and have only ever mastered the “sew-in-a-straight-line” method of sewing, then you’ll be looking for help from fabulous Mums like Kathryn from Tikiboo Kids… luckily she’s a woman with style!

Tikiboo Kids is a joint project between Kathryn, her Mum, their friendly local dressmaker and an adorable little girl named Alexandra {aka Tikiboo, pictured here in the purple dress}. The collection is 100% Australian made, in limited edition batches with an emphasis on pretty florals in girly summer hues.

The inspiration behind the Miss Tikiboo Summer 10/11 collection came during a trip to the UK and France last year… Kathryn says… “I drooled over the sweet, timeless floral prints in Bonpoint and just knew that our next collection had to feature Liberty.  While I was originally inspired by the French designs, I gave Miss TikiBoo an antipodean flavour and brightened things up, so (with input from my daughter) I selected colours like rose pink and lilac to appeal to little girls!”

The concept behind Miss Tikiboo is that beautiful clothing is made to be worn… forget hiding away “the good clothes” in the wardrobe for special occasions. Embrace florals and frills and wear something gorgeous everyday! The exception to this rule is painting, BMX racing, pizza making and glitter gluing…
