Hello friends! This month I’m very excited and honoured to be collaborating with Despina from Backpacks 4 Aussie Kids on the Project Underpants campaign. Backpacks 4 Aussie Kids provides much needed essential & personal items to children in the foster care system. Our goal is to collect 500 pairs of brand new knickers to donate to the cause, and we need your help!
What we’re asking you to do is to pledge a few pairs of undies during September towards our 500 pair total. The undies will go into care packages created by Backpacks 4 Aussie Kids, to be given to children going into care. Underpants should be brand new, in sizes 3 and up and either for boys or girls {or both}.
In order to encourage you to make a pledge, we have a series of prizes on offer that have been donated by our fabulous friends and sponsors. There will be three new prizes released each week during September {starting on 9 Sept}, so check back each Thursday to see what’s up for grabs!
To be eligible for the prize draw, your undie donation must arrive at the Backpacks 4 Aussie Kids office on or before 30 September, 2010. For each pair of undies that you pledge/donate you will get one entry into the major prize draw. Plus, the person or group who donates the most pairs of undies will win a $150 shopping spree from our friends at Whimsy Child. Hooray!

I have pledged! What an amazing and worthwhile cause this is. I am not only going to buy some undies, but many other items that can be used for the children in these situations. Thanks so much for sharing KI.
Thanks so much Erin, what a great start :}
Pledged! I am with Erin and going to pledge a few other items as well. A heart touching and worthy cause. Good on you for promoting and getting the word out!!
I can’t really describe to you how I felt this morning when I read this post… I was glad that such an organisation as B4AK exists, yet sad that they are required. I was thankful to you for bringing the cause to my attention, and for the support your sponsers are offering for this drive, and I felt eager to help in any way I could.
Already I have bought some underwear & intend to stockpile as may pairs as I can for the rest of the month – such a necessity is not something that any child should have to worry about – & I have re-posted on my blog (http://punkysmamma.blogspot.com/2010/09/project-underpants.html) to try & spread the word.
Thank you so much for supporting this very worthy cause, & getting the word out so that more of us can help.
Hi Vic, what a lovely comment. I felt the same way when I was introduced to the B4AK campaign. It just goes to show what an amazing difference that grass-roots organisations can make when they pull together.
It’s all about making real everyday differences in people lives. There are so many things that we take for granted. Despina {from B4AK} is a woman with a very big heart!
xo
Fantastic initiative! I’ve just the ticket at home. Gonna pledge as soon as I walk in the door tonight [fuzzy old mum brain can't recall how many undies are in the two multi-packs I have set aside.... D'oh!]
Hello, just heard about this and what a great idea! The Handmade Children’s Markets will get on board and make it a part of our fundraising for our October 2 markets. Anything to support kids!
Thanks so much guys, it will be wonderful to see the fundraising at the Handmade Markets. :}
I agree, this is a wonderful cause, the prizes look gorgeous too!
2 x packs of 7 pairs coming your way!
And even better – I’m gonna round up the troops at works and see if we can pledge some more to you.
Great work – keep it up!
Thanks so much Leah and Ness xo

I had never heard of B4AK but a great cause and thank you for bringing it to our attention. I will post on my blog and email to all I know to see if we can out-pledge expectations. It REALLY shouldn’t be something a child has to worry about. Undies galore on the way from Me x
FANTASTIC FANTASTIC cause – easy to take the simple things in life for granted I was thinking about a cause like this and PJs over winter, great to find somebody who has more initiative than myself – will be passing along to playgroup and mothers group.
