Designer of the Week - Juf Juul

Good morning friends! It’s time to introduce our designer of the week! As an avid lover of everything Blythe, I’m super excited about this week’s review. Please allow me to introduce Miranda, the creative talent behind children’s label Juf Juul. The star of the show today is the Joelle Dress… and it’s about as sweet as sweet can be. Prepare to swoon!

The Product Review

I fell in love with the Joelle Dress when I first laid eyes upon it in the Juf Juul online store. When it arrived in my mailbox, I fell in love with it all over again {before it was whisked away at the speed of light by an over excited three and a half year old}.

The dress is made from lightweight jersey cotton {which is soft and cosy}, with a heat-transferred print. This particular dress features a dainty Blythe with a brunette bob, but you can choose your design from a range of adorable graphics {see some examples below}. The stand-out feature of the Joelle dress is the bold black and white polka dots set against the floral sleeve. It can be worn alone as a dress, or paired with tights for the cooler months {and to extend its life as a tunic}.

Our little tester this week is visiting from the UK and will be heading home again shortly. She has proudly announced that she’ll be wearing her Joelle dress to Nan’s place this year for pudding day {aka Christmas}.

The Final Verdict… Bold, Bubbly and Beautiful!

The Indie Label

Miranda started Juf Juul around five years ago after becoming tired of seeing the same collections in the stores again and again. Even the brands that she really liked were becoming predictable, so she decided to make a couple of shirts for her daughter Juul and was overwhelmed by the positive feedback. Juf Juul, translated into English, means “Miss Julia” {which is the name of Miranda’s 10 year old daughter}. Six months into running her label, business had picked up to the point that Miranda quit her day job to focus on her new label full-time.

The Creative Mind

Miranda is Mum to Julia, 10 and Jonah, who is almost 8. She is inspired by vibrant colours and bright cheerful clothing, and takes care to design playful pieces, that fit perfectly and are comfortable to wear. Keeping in mind the increasing number of identical clothing in mainstream stores, Miranda is sure to offer as many options as possible for customising her garments, and keeping them fun. For example, you can mix and match all of the designs with the chosen graphic of your choice.

Alongside her label Juf Juul, Miranda also runs a graphic design business called AddSomeColor! and is available to assist with logo, business card and website design.

The Whimsical Spirit

Miranda in her own words… “Well, I don’t have a lot of time for hobbies with 2 kids, a husband and 2 web shops {haha!} but I do love to go along to soccer training and cheer on my son at his soccer games. I also make time to let my creativity go wild in RoundRobinProjects {a journaling project}.”

The Handmade Collection

As well as her lovely dresses, Miranda also makes a range of t-shirts {for Mums as well}, skirts, scarves, bags, hair accessories and DIY heat transfers. Plus, to celebrate the launch of her international store, Miranda is offering FREE International Shipping for the next two weeks {ends on 1 December, 2011}. Shipping normally takes one – two weeks, so you still have plenty of time to treat your little lady to something special for Christmas.
