Music Review - Alphabet City by KinderAngst

A while back I shared the debut single from alternative rockers KinderAngst. Today I thought I’d give you an update, as the full album is now available for purchase online. It’s set in fictional “Alphabet City” and it’s serving up a little bit Shangri-Las, a little bit of David Bowie, a hint of The Ramones and a whole lot of kid-craziness.

The title track, Alphabet City, has been in a favourite in this house over the past week or so. I think it’s because of the lyric, “if you give me trouble, you’ll get a double scoop”… which means that it’s unlikely that I’ll be able to serve ice cream in this house without giggles, hyjinks and mayhem. Lucky for me, that’s just the way I like it.

I also dig “Do It Yourself”, which features Debbie Harry… well, partly because of Debbie, and partly because of the empowering message. I love “Sourpuss” because it reminds me of a certain five-year that I know who is the Princess of Pouts. Lastly, you might get a little bit of a chuckle out of “Be Kind to Your Parents”… it’s more of a public service announcement than a song really. Teehee.

Pick up your copy of KinderAngst’s Alphabet City, or listen to some track samples online.

You can also listen to the full version of “Do It Yourself” today on Spinner.
