Ovejita Be Little Red Riding Hood brooches

The Product Review

In presenting today’s review, I’m filled with nostalgic memories of my childhood and a whole lot of joy at the craftiness of the handmade community. These Little Red Riding Hood brooches by Ovejita Be! are hand cut from wool blend felt and stitched into lovely little creations featuring sweet details like hand stitched spectacles and smiles. They come in pretty packaging that is perfect for gift giving, and are available in all kinds of designs including llamas, ladybugs, sheeps, dragons, dolls, jellyfish and more!

Each Ovejita Be! huggable plush sheep is made from soft faux fur with wool blend felt on the face and feet and polyester pillow filling inside (antiallergic and anti-mite). These sweet sheep make a lovely pillow or plaything, and come in a choice of colours and patterns. There’s even a new range of mix-and-match fabrics in stock.

The verdict… A big serve of whimsy in a cute little package.

The Indie Label

Teresa and Miguel launched their label Ovejita Be! in early 2010, at first as a hobby while Teresa was studying. Not long after, they were invited to their first craft fair, which inspired them to try selling their wares online.

Teresa and Miguel decided to call their creative project Ovejita Be!, which means “Little Sheep Bah!” in English. Teresa says, “We love sheep and we have several sheepish things in our home including plushies, magnets, photo holders… They are everywhere! I’ve been drawing sheep since I was 14, and I passed my passion onto Miguel”.

The Creative Mind

Teresa and Miguel are inspired by childlike imagination. Teresa says, “We try to use our imagination as a child will do. We think about how we saw things when we were little. Our inspiration comes from classical tales and nature, and we try to bring colour to anyone in this grey world. We think everyone can be a child again…”

“Our design process varies depending on the item. Sometimes we write ideas in a notebook, other times we draw sketches. However, most frequently we start with a pair of scissors and cutting out felt and fabric. Miguel tells me an idea, and if I like it we try to make it real. If we love the results, we then make a pattern on felt as a reference.

  2. Miguel is a Telecommunications Engineer and I am an Art Restorer.

  3. We are a really good team: a smile collector and a dreams painter.
