Designer of the Week - Birdy Blue's

Hello my colour-loving friends! It’s with sheer delight that I introduce you to Miranda from Birdy Blue’s. Miranda lives in Holland and you may remember her from a previous feature in the early days of KID independent. Miranda has expanded her range over the past couple of years and today we’re reviewing her lovely Birdy Blue’s bracelet collection (and we have a few to giveaway as well).

The Product Review

If I had to choose three words to describe the Birdy Blue’s ‘Flowers & Stars’ bracelet collection, I’d go with sweet, cheerful and smile-worthy. Miranda works almost exclusively with bright colours, and her styling is all about FUN. Made from wooden beads with metal clasps and charms, these bracelets are lightweight for little wrists and come in all the colours of the rainbow. I especially adore the tassels and hearts design, but I’m fond of the little birdy charms too!

The verdict… A dash of whimsy to finish off your outfit.

The Indie Label

Miranda launched the Birdy Blue’s ‘Flowers & Stars’ bracelet collection in the summer of 2012 to complement her existing range of dresses, tees and other accessories. The collection was an instant hit and allowed Miranda to branch out into other stores across the globe.

Miranda chose her business name Birdy Blue’s to express her love of sweet, petite styling, and to appeal an international audience (the store runs alongside her Dutch shop).

The Creative Mind

Miranda is a very proud parent to Julia (12) and Jonah (10). Julia was the original inspiration for Miranda’s label when she started her first webshop featuring colourful clothing for girls. She was also Miranda’s model (up until 2 years ago, when she started to get too big). Luckily, Julia has a younger niece, who has carried on the tradition.

The Whimsical Spirit

Here’s three fun facts about Miranda (in her own words):

  1. I’m ADDICTED to Pinterest!

  2. Next to my Birdy Blue’s webshop I also make graphic designs for websites and for personal use like invitations, canvasses, etc.

  3. My secret wish of me is to sell my products worldwide so every girl can treat herself to colour everyday !

The Handmade Collection

You can find Birdy Blue’s via the international store (worldwide shipping available), or through Miranda’s Dutch store.
