Hi folks. Today I’d like to introduce you to Rachel and her partner Ben, the creative minds behind Sydney label Raenne. These guys have recently started designing and printing their own organic fabrics, and have stitched up three stylish bandana bibs for your viewing pleasure. Oh, and we also have a gorgeous set of bibs to giveaway… read on!

Raenne Organic Baby, Bandana Bibs

The Product Review

If there’s one thing I love even more than modern design and organic fabrics, it’s local artists expressing their creativity and industriousness by getting out the silk screens, inks, and sewing machines and making a unique product, from scratch. These gorgeous bandana bibs are made from pure organic cotton, with custom designed patterns and fabrics that are exclusive to Raenne.

Raenne organics fabrics feature a very soft hand, with quality stitching, and chic unisex colourways that mix-and-match effortlessly with your favourite outfits. Each bib has an adjustable set of snaps, so the bibs will fit newborns right through to toddlers. The double layer of organic cotton will catch dribbles and spills, while giving your little ones some rockin’ style at the same time.

The verdict… Chic organics for modern accessorising.

The Indie Label

Raenne was launched in May 2012 after Rachel struggled to find reasonably priced, yet good quality, baby items for her friends and family who were welcoming little ones into the world. Rachel explains, “I really begrudged paying high prices for items that probably weren’t made in the most ethical of ways and that could be found in every shop on the high street. So one day I decided to buy a sewing machine and some fabric and I made a few things for my friends. A few months later I launched my shop on Etsy”.

The name ‘Raenne’ is a mash up of Rachel and Ben, and represents their combination of talents. Rachel is a wiz on the sewing machine, and Ben is a hobbyist screen printer.

The Creative Mind

Rachel and Ben prefer to work with natural fabrics such as cotton and organic cotton knits. Rachel describes the Raenne aesthetic as “simple, yet modern” and is fond of bright colours and interesting patterns. She says, “I have always been very creative and find it very hard to sit and do nothing. I like to be doing something all the time and love to try and make new things. My mother is a seamstress and makes period costumes, so creativity definitely runs in the family. I have recently started to design my own fabric; the possibilities for patterns are endless and I am constantly thinking of new designs I’d like to create.”

The Whimsical Spirit

Here’s three fun facts about Rachel, in her own words:

  1. I am educated in both graphic design and web design and am now applying these skills to fabric design (which is much more fun) and to my business. Having said that I am still working on my website!

  2. I am originally from the UK and have been living in Australia for over 4 years now. I arrived in December 2009 with nothing more than a backpack and now here I am running my own little business.

  3. Speaking of backpacks, the one thing I really love to do is travel. I spend far too much time at my sewing machine to do much travelling these days! However, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
