For the past four days we’ve been stuck in the house due to heavy rain and chilly temperatures… which means, times to try out some new toys and games! The focus of our attention is a series of multi-level logic games from Smart Games. There’s a set to suit every age and stage, and today we’d like to share Bunny Boo, Night & Day, and Camouflage North Pole.
Bunny Boo by Smart Games is an brain building game that teaches toddlers and pre-schoolers about 3D space; introducing concepts such as above/below, inside/outside, visible/hidden, etc. It’s suitable for ages 2 – 5 years and features quality wooden pieces in bright eye-catching hues.
For toddlers, this toy can be used as a simple set of blocks. As comprehension grows, you can make your way through the challenge cards, from starter, through junior, to expert and master. There are 60 challenges in total and Bunny Boo is fun for kids to play on their own, or with help from mum, dad, or older siblings. We adored Bunny Boo so much that we found a special display spot for him on the book shelf where he lives when he’s not in play.
Day & Night by Smart Games, like Bunny Boo, also evolves with your child’s growing skills. The aim of the game is to follow the stacking patterns on the challenge cards, starting with the 24 ‘day’ challenges in full colour, and moving on the the 24 ‘night’ challenges which feature only silhouettes (upping the ante on shape recognition).
This toy is best suited to 3 years and up, although we found that it also doubled as a simple wooden stacking toy for a 2 year old. This game is very engaging, and the instructions are very simple to follow… It was Mum’s pick of the bunch!
Our final game today is Camouflage North Pole. This one is for the bigger kids, aged 6 years and up, and features transparent puzzle pieces and 48 challenges (ranging from starter to master). We loved how easy it is to set up new challenges by simply sliding in a new game board. We also enjoyed the level of concentration and engagement that this game inspired in Mr-Eight-and-a-Half, our product tester. Not to mention the joy on his face as he completed a challenge! This game was Dad’s pick of the bunch!
The Smart Games collection has quickly become a playtime favourite for the KID independent crew. The pieces in each game are high quality, with easy to follow instructions, and multiple levels to keep kids engaged and challenged. With prices ranging from $29.90 – $34.95, this collection is affordable too.
