Fresh Baked Friday... Hot Fudge!

For those of you who are in Brisbane, you may be sharing my exasperation at the weather this past week… hot days, freezing nights..!? Come on Mother Nature, pick a season! Teehee.. Today we celebrate the official beginning of spring with a few fabulous fresh baked handmade kids items from Hot Fudge.

Hot Fudge Handmade Kids Summer Dresses

Hot Fudge designer Robyn Dixon has been sewing up a storm in preparation for this weekend’s BrisStyle Indie Designers’ Market. The Party Knot Dress {pictured in the top row} is one of my favourites. It features heavenly 100% cotton voile fabric from the Little Folks range by Anna Maria Horner, adjustable straps and a fully lined bodice. I’m also very fond of the reversible swing dress pictured below {bottom row}. The fabrics are from the Amy Butler Love collection.

Hot Fudge Handmade Kids Summer Dresses

You’ll find the Hot Fudge collection of handmade kids clothes online at Etsy, but if you’re in Brisbane why not drop by and meet Robyn at brisStyle this weekend?

The BrisStyle Indie Designers’ Market will be held on Saturday 4 September at St Augustine’s Church Grounds, Racecourse Road, Hamilton, QLD.

Fresh Baked Friday... Spring Fresh!

Happy Friday! Today’s serving of fresh baked goodness comes from two very talented crafty Mamas and masters of sewing, Jen from AinsleeFOX and Cintia from My Poppet. These two have been working like little elves at their sewing machines whipping up some fresh spring delights… please enjoy!

AinsleeFOX Handmade Kids Dresses

First up today, a platter of handmade dresses from AinsleeFOX. Designer Jen describes AinsleeFOX as “my sewing alter-ego. She is who I am when I’m not busy being a working mum and wife!” Her story is one that amused and delighted me…

AinsleeFOX Handmade Kids Dresses

Jen’s love of crafts dates back to her childhood, but after a freak sewing accident that involved sewing over her Brownie Guide Leaders finger with a sewing machine at 10 years old, she had come to the conclusion that sewing might not be her forte. However, with the birth of her daughter and the additional bonus of not working fulltime, she decided to rekindle her love of crafty pursuits and discovered that sewing isn’t so scary after all.

AinsleeFOX Handmade Kids Dresses

These days Jen indulges her addiction to fabric and her love of sewing creating items such as dolls, clothing and other groovy goods. The “two-way” dress is the newest addition to the AinsleeFOX line. It’s handmade from designer cotton fabrics and has removable sleeves, giving you two dresses in one. It’s available in three colourways, Nantucket Summer in green or pink and Meadowsweet in lemon floral.

My Poppet Vintage Handmade Kids Clothes

The second batch off the griddle today is from Melbourne based designer Cintia from My Poppet. Earlier this week my fancy was officially tickled by a post on Cintia’s blog about her experimental pants… see above, in hot pink. I then discovered the Retro Spring Dress and Apple a Day Bolero Vest, both made from authentic 1970s vintage fabric… groovy man. Each item is available as a limited edition release.

Well folks, that’s it for another week of indie delights! I’m off to the video store to pick out some movies for my “make-the-most-out-of-the-end-of-winter-snuggled-up-on-the-couch-under-on-the-doona” night in!

Fresh Baked Friday - Peas and Carrots

Weeeeeeeee, it’s Friday! This week’s Fresh Baked feature is all about peas and carrots. Perhaps I should have called it Fresh Steamed Friday instead!? After all, what’s not to love about a bunch of roly poly peas in a pod, or some crafty carefree carrots? Read on for a vitamin-packed handmade experience.

Crocheted Carrot Cocoon by Cub Designs

Peas and Carrots Handmade Toys

Our first fab find is a ten on the “awwwwww” scale. The handmade carrot cocoon is hand crocheted by Cub Designs especially for use as a photography prop… love it!

As well as being tasty and nutritious, peas and carrots are also fun to play with. Our next two handmade goodies provide a great alternative to chasing your veges around your plate with a fork; chase them around the rumpus room instead! To the left we have a peas and carrot play set by Blackbeary Mountain. These guys are made from wood and stained with AP certified non-toxic paints. To the right, classic crocheted baby rattles by Lark.

Peas and Carrots Handmade Softie and Onesies

Next up I’d like to introduce you to Rollo by Runaway Dreams. He’s a little handmade bunny who collects carrots for dinner; he was also the initial inspiration for this post. Next to rollo is a rad twin set of onesies from Letters by Lindsay… my question is, how do you choose who gets to be peas and who gets to be carrots?

Pea in a Pod Handmade Plush Toy

Carrots and Bunny Handmade Soft Toys

For our final serving today we have a trio of plushie goodness! This little pod of peas is by Mochi Studios and is handmade from soft fleece. The peas are removable, in case you want to take them on a wild adventure.

The carrots on the left with the cheeky facial expressions are by Plush Off. The description reads “these aren’t to eat, but they are to look at, throw at friends, use as a funny poking device…” Teehee! Last but not lest, an Itty Bitty Pocket Bunny in his Itty Bitty Carrot House by The Cupcake Girls… Peek-a-boo!

Well that’s it for another week folks; I hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s fun indie finds. Join us tomorrow morning for a little look at a new spring collection from one of our favourite Aussie kids designers. What are we having for breakfast you ask? Green eggs and ham…

Fresh Baked Friday - Feed the Birds

Feed the birds, tuppence a bag, tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag. Feed the birds, that’s what she cries, while overhead, her birds fill the skies… The inspiration for today’s post came from a recent viewing of Mary Poppins. I must have seen it a thousand times but it’s still a firm family favourite in this household.

Handmade Bird Softie and Cupcake Toppers

The first little birdie we’d like to introduce you to is a handmade Puffin by Lori Marie. Isn’t he majestic? To his right is a pair of Mama & Bebe cupcake toppers from Gifts Define; made from hand-cut Öko-Tex Standard 100 wool felt. I’m loving the crispness of the green, white and mustard. On a side note, those cupcakes look delicious!

Handpainted Bluebird and Singing Bird Art

Next up is a fabulous example of why I love birds so much. They always seen to be in a good mood! On the left is Horatio by Penelope and Pip on the day he learned how to fly. Judging by his top hat, it appears that he’s also quite the dapper chap; the Fred Astaire of bluebirds if you will. He’s a giclee print made from an original illustration.

To the right is a little yellow birdie who’s just loving life, and singing a happy tune. Perhaps he just found a tasty french fry or a sparkling puddle to play in! He is a framed original painting on canvas by 3 Bears Studio.

Handmade bird softie and bluebird necklace

When I stumbled across these three birdies from Yarn Miracle they struck me as an intriguing trio. My guess is that they cause all kinds of mischief about town. Each one is handmade from organic cotton yarn and stuffing.

The last winged wonder of the day is the Sweet Fairytale Blue Bird Necklace by Kittyrobot. The longer I look at him, the more I can feel my will power waning and my mouse gravitating towards the “purchase” button. I’ve been trying to fight the urge lately to snap up a goody from every post… my poor, poor bank balance.

Have a great weekend!

Well friends, I’m signing off for another week; I hope you have a super weekend! Don’t forget to pop in tomorrow to join me for a leisurely breakfast… it’ll be dippity eggs and soldiers. Adios!

Fresh Baked Friday - Picnics, Parties + Pretties

Hello friends, happy Friday! For our fresh baked feature today I’m rocking out a pink triple play… picnics, parties and pretties. Other cool words that start with the letter P?  Popsicles, playtime, precious, peculiar, precarious and procrastination {that last one is my favourite}.

Pink Tea Party Invitation and Shoes

Pink Flower Headband and Handmade Gift Tags

Pink Cake Stand and Handmade Tutu

Pink Tea Cup Brooch and Messenger Bag

Handpainted Baby Shoes and Biscuit Tin

Pink might be a bit of a colour stereotype, but I love it nonetheless. I especially like it when it’s delicately mixed with pastel shades of aqua and blue. Now, let’s see if I can possibly resist snapping up at least one of these items… the eight ball says… “unlikely”.

Well, that’s it for this week folks. I hope you have a fabulous weekend planned! Why not drop by tomorrow morning and join us for breakfast? I’m making raisin toast without the icky bits {raisins}… I guess it’s called cinnamon toast but it’s more fun to say the first way.
