I’m on such a high today from yesterday’s first of the month posts that I’ve decided to keep the giveaway fun going just a little bit longer with a special delivery from our friend Katy at Little yoyo Styles… let’s get accessorised! Forget about bills, forget about junk mail… we want brown paper packages, tied up with string!

These Kanzashi Bloom Flower Hair Clips are a new addition to the collection at Little yoyo Styles. Each one is handmade by Katy, from bright cotton fabrics and soft silks. Katy, like me, is addicted to online shopping and so most of her fabric is sourced online from all edges of the globe. She sews and shops at night while her kids are in bed… I’m sure a lot of you can identify with that!
Katy decided to try her hand at the Kanzashi Bloom clips after seeing a performer wearing one at a Japanese Kimono Dance performance. Inspired by the beauty, she set her sights on learning the traditional process… Katy describes her process below.

- First I design the shape of my flower
- Then I cut the fabric into pieces of the same size (i.e. 2″ each)
- I use these pieces to create the petals, and sew them together to create the bloom
- Next I attach either a crystal or a button to the centre of the bloom
- The last step is to decide whether the bloom would look best as a clip or a headband
- … and I hope that you’ll love my creation as much as I do!

Congratulations to Angylene, winner of the Little yoyo Styles pack!
This week one lucky reader will win a hair accessory pack featuring ten hair clips from the Little yoyo Styles range. That’s enough to accessorise your whole wardrobe! To enter, visit Little yoyo Styles to check out the handmade range and tell us in the comment section which one is your favourite! Winner drawn on 9 September, 2010.
Yippee! It’s time for another special delivery post… the feature that makes the postie your bestest buddie in the whole wide world. This week we have two fabulous packages to send out from kia hing fay; so if you’re feeling creative, or are just in the mood for a big bunch of cuteness, read on!

So, what is a special delivery, I head you say… Special delivery is a series of posts dedicated to the humble hand-written note, a friendly postman and a brown paper package tied up with string. Each one gives you the chance to win a special delivery package, sent straight to your mailbox!
Oh, and who is kia hing fay, I hear you say… well, she’s a whimsical designer with a love of crochet, craft and artistic pursuits. Her collection is a playful array of little hand-crocheted delights, hand-carved stamp sets and my favourite, applique kits!

Here’s how they work…. 1. cut out the patches, 2. iron onto fabric, 3. finish off by stitching around the edges. The kits include the patches, the needle and thread, easy to follow instructions and a big dose of fun. All you need is an iron, some fabric {perhaps a t-shirt?} and a big smile plastered on your face. Fun, fun, FUN!

The kia hing fay collection is inspired by nature, domestic life, and a love of Scandinavian and Japanese design. You can find Kia’s products online as well as at selected stockists around Australia.

Congratulations to Rosa in The Antipodes and Bobbie, winners of the Kia Hing Fay Applique Sets… I hope you enjoy your crafty projects!

This week we have two kia hing fay applique kits to giveaway {spring and summer}. If you’d like one of them to arrive in your mailbox, simply tell us below in the comment section what you would make with your applique kit! Winners drawn on Thursday 26 August, 2010.
Happy Monday Folks! It’s been a while since we’ve had a special delivery post so I thought I’d start this week off with a little giveaway especially for those of you who haven’t seen the postman around much lately. So if your letter box is feeling lonely, read on folks… this one’s for you!

For those of you who are new to {KID} independent, special delivery is a series of posts dedicated to the humble hand-written note, a friendly postman and a brown paper package tied up with string. They give you the opportunity to meet stores who make and sell delicious stationery and products perfect for posting, and also the opportunity to be the proud recipient of a {KID} independent special delivery package. Today we introduce you to Isabell’s Umbrella, makers of stationery and masters of cuteness!

Isabell’s Umbrella is the creation of Ashley Giessing, an artist who believes she should have been born in the nineteenth century, when all correspondence was done by hand {oh… I hear ya sista!}. Ashley is a mum of two, lover of stationery and collector of books. Her range includes cute artwork, magnets, cards, invitations and bookplates… my favourite is the Molly Walker print {image at top of page}.

Thanks to our friends at Kawaii Kids we have a set of Isabell’s Umbrella Stationery to giveaway to one lucky reader. If you’d like it to arrive in your mailbox, simply visit Kawaii Kids and tell us below in the comment section your favourite item in the Isabell’s Umbrella collection. Entries open worldwide, closes 15 July, 2010.

Congratulations to Jaime O! You are the winner of our Isabell’s Umbrella pack.
*All prizes {unless otherwise stated} are drawn using random.org.
Are you the creative type? Love sitting down with the kids, surrounded by stamps, designer papers and cards, a pot of glue, a few rolls of ribbons and your favourite pair of scissors? Today’s special delivery post is all about inspiring you to get crafty…

Next time you’re in the market for some beautiful stationery, why not try your hand at creating some yourself? It’s not as tricky as you might think! I recently made a set of handmade envelopes for a friends wedding by simply printing a template {in pale ink} onto the back of some designer paper… cut, fold, glue… voila! If you’d like more info, you can get a step-by-step guide from Martha.

If you like to make a bold statement, you can go all out with glitzy embellishments and bright colours, but it’s also possible to create cute, classic stationery with simple handstamped techniques. To give you an inspirational kick in the pants, we have five handstamped writing sets to giveaway courtesy of our friends at Busy Bee Handmade.

If you’d like to win one, simply drop by Busy Bee Handmade and then tell us in the comment section below which category or product inspires you the most. The winners will be drawn next Thursday 10 June 2010, and contacted via email. Tweet about the competition {through the button above} or share with friends via facebook for an extra chance to win.
