 
Happy Monday Folks! It’s been a while since we’ve had a special delivery post so I thought I’d start this week off with a little giveaway especially for those of you who haven’t seen the postman around much lately. So if your letter box is feeling lonely, read on folks… this one’s for you!
For those of you who are new to {KID} independent, special delivery is a series of posts dedicated to the humble hand-written note, a friendly postman and a brown paper package tied up with string. They give you the opportunity to meet stores who make and sell delicious stationery and products perfect for posting, and also the opportunity to be the proud recipient of a {KID} independent special delivery package. Today we introduce you to Isabell’s Umbrella, makers of stationery and masters of cuteness!
Isabell’s Umbrella is the creation of Ashley Giessing, an artist who believes she should have been born in the nineteenth century, when all correspondence was done by hand {oh… I hear ya sista!}. Ashley is a mum of two, lover of stationery and collector of books. Her range includes cute artwork, magnets, cards, invitations and bookplates… my favourite is the Molly Walker print {image at top of page}.

I recently made a set of handmade envelopes for a friends wedding by simply printing a template {in pale ink} onto the back of some designer paper… cut, fold, glue… voila! If you like to make a bold statement, you can go all out with glitzy embellishments and bright colours, but it’s also possible to create cute, classic stationery with simple handstamped techniques. Welcome to the first edition of “Special Delivery” the {KID} independent letter writing collective. This series of posts is dedicated to the humble hand-written note, a friendly postman and a brown paper package, tied up with string.
When I was growing up, one of my all time favourite things was writing letters. I had penpals from New York to the Netherlands; Aunts who sent me little treasures in brown paper packages; and a stationery collection of epic proportions. I would rush home from school everyday in anticipation of what the postman would bring. These days, whilst the majority of my mail seems to be unwanted bills, I still retain my childish joy when opening the letterbox; and I always make sure to treat myself from time to time with some packages from my favourite crafty online stores.
For our very first “Special Delivery” I have chosen the adorable “Camille”, a tiny pocket doll created by the talented Jeanine from Sweet William. Camille lives in a matchbox doll house with her miniature cuckoo clock… She’s ready to head off in the post to the home of someone who will love and cherish her, and take her on many adventures!
