Plushie Palooza - Handmaid by Helen Hedding

Welcome to our very last day of the Plushie Palooza Toy Festival. Today’s playful little guy is handmade by Handmaid by Helen Hedding. Would you like to dive straight into those ruby red arms for a cuddle? Don’t forget to tell us in the comments section below. Handmade Softie by Handmaid by Helen Hedding

About Zippermouth
Zippermouth is made from a combination of Italian red wool coatings for his arms and legs with Portuguese men’s shirting fabrics patchworked together to form his body. Both fabrics were upcycled from Helen’s days as a textile agent, so he is rather well travelled! His mouth opens with a zip and he is stuffed with polyfill fibre so he is squishy enough for a big cuddle.

About Handmaid by Helen Hedding
Helen has been sewing for a very long time and studied Fashion at RMIT in Melbourne. After a stints working as a designer, manufacturer and textile agent she branched out on her own to make designer handbags. These days she concentrates mainly on toys as she finds they bring so much joy and are good for the soul. You can find Helen’s creations on Etsy or Madeit, and at the occasional market. You can also visit her at her studio in Magill Adelaide.

Thanks for the memories...

That’s it folks, the very last plushie of the festival! So now what?

Welcome to day twenty-nine of the Plushie Palooza Toy Festival. Today’s jolly and jovial plushie is lovingly handmade by Jen from Pikelet Workshop. Handmade Santa Claus Christmas Soft Toy by Pikelet Workshop

About Santa Claus
Well… I don’t need to tell you about Santa Claus, after all he’s the most famous and jolly soul in the whole wide world! This incarnation of Saint Nick is made from pre-washed 100% cotton, wool felt and polyester fibrefil. Each Pikelet Workshop softie has it’s own unique blend of fabrics, but they all have the quirky knowing half-smile for which they are famous. Seams are double-stitched to withstand boisterous cuddles and are quality tested by designer Jen’s daughter  (usually involving a tea party of some sort).

About Pikelet Workshop
Jen from Pikelet Workshop is based in Perth, Western Australia and lives with her husband,  five year old, and two lazy cats. Jen loves making things with her hands; be it cooking or cross stitch or sewing. She finds the most pleasure in making things for little people and says that “the delight on their faces is (almost) payment enough”. Pikelet Workshop was launched in April 2010 and has since developed a loyal following with her first handmade market in September a sell-out success.
