I officially developed a design crush on Flaming Pot after spying a pair of adorable crocheted fox dolls during one of my regular Etsy browsing sessions. Made with 100% cotton yarn, these guys have oodles of character, and are available in a range of custom colours as well. If you visit Flaming Pot on Etsy, you’ll also find a range of crocheted rabbits, bears, elephants… and donuts too! View the complete collection here.

Over the past few months, I’ve been adding a range of wooden toys to my sons toy box to inspire creativity and enrich playtime. Our latest addition is a Namebow – a handmade personalised wooden rainbow puzzle from Shine On Creations. We chose the word ‘smile’ as our little poppet is one of the smiliest guys I’ve even met!
Shine On Creations Namebow Puzzles are handcrafted from locally sourced, recycled natural materials with a rustic appeal that is perfectly imperfect. You can expect to see the true character of the wood shining through, knots and all, which I adore. These puzzles come to you from Mother Nature, and are lovingly hand cut, sanded, and painted – which (in my humble opinion) is so much nicer than your average factory made toy.
We’ve had lots of fun playing with this Namebow, scattering the letters and putting them back in one by one. Although we’re not at the reading stage yet, it’s still nice to spell out the letters and talk about the word ‘smile’ – complete with actions (two-year-olds are excellent at cheesy grins). Having this Namebow made with your child’s name would add an extra layer of recognition, and these puzzles would also make a lovely keepsake or gift. I’ve enjoyed having the sunshiney colours on display in our playroom.
You can purchase a Namebow via Notinshops.com.au with free Australian delivery.

Hey folks, here’s a little feature that’s sure to make you smile. These quirky creatures are called Bambaks and they are lovingly handmade in Gdańsk, Poland. Today I’ve assembled a selection of my personal favourites, and have the absolute pleasure of sharing a little peek into the creative mind of Bambaks designer, Aleksandra.
Aleksandra graduated of the Academy of Fine Arts and after working as fashion designer for few years, she fell pregnant with her second child and decided she needed to branch out on her own. She explains, “I decided to do something that would be very creative and enjoyable for me and started to design toys. I called them Bambaks – little guys with great personalities. Bambaks are mostly handmade and I exclusively use European fabrics. Since I have two kids I’m often inspired the cartoons that they enjoy, and my kids are my testers, of course. Sometimes when I’m not sure which design I should choose they help me to come up with the decision”.
Aleksandra has been making Bambaks for over four years now, and reports that it is never ever boring! She has created over 80 different designs of Bambaks, along with many other products, including cup coasters, games, bags and custom made Bambaks portraits. She says, “I have head full of ideas, I just wish I had another pairs of hands!”
